All the sinus opened into the nasal cavities. There are various types of Sinus i.e. superior sinus, straight sinus, transverse sinus, occipital sinus and sigmoid sinus.

Two important functions of Sinus are

  1. Sinus provides resonance to our voice. Hence people who suffer from sinus from long time, their voice get deteriorate and unclear. They also face difficulty in speaking.
  2. Second main function of Sinus is to keep weight of skull bones balanced. It keeps the weight of the skull light and bearable. Due to this our neck doesn't feel weight of head. If it had not been this way then our head would always keep falling on one side or other side. When one gets the disease of Sinus, the place of air is taken over by liquid. Hence people may feel heaviness and imbalance in the head. With the practice of Sinus Mudra, we can get benefited with the sinus disease.

Procedure: In the acupressure therapy there are seven pressure points for sinus. Three points are on both the sides of the nose, three points surrounding the eyes and final point on the forehead. To perform this Mudra, take Index finger and Middle finger of both the hands and place them on the side of nose. Move these fingers in a circular manner, starting from the side of nose, towards the cheekbones and then moving towards temple and then over the eyebrows and forehead then bring back on the side of the nose. This completes one clockwise circle. We should make 5 to 10 circles of this Mudra. This should be done carefully, with little pressure.

Now we should do reverse circle with the thumb. For this we have to interlock our fingers and place both the thumbs on the center of the forehead. Now move both the thumbs towards the temple and further downward and circulate around cheek bones and move towards side of nose. Now apply pressure on both the side of nose with the thumbs and jerk with the thumbs at this point. Now move ahead, apply pressure just below the bones of the nose and again give a jerk with your thumb. This completes one anti-clock wise circle. We should make 5 to 10 circles of this Mudra. This should be done carefully with little pressure.
