Like Madhypada shirasana Mahaveerasana is another asana which gives body complete health and good shape. This is a symbol of power of warriors. With regular practice of this asana, a fresh flow of energy is experienced by body.

Mahaveerasana (Warrior-power Posture)

Method

  1. Stand straight and stretch out both feet as far as is comfortable.
  2. Take both hands behind and lock them as shown in picture.
  3. Turn left foot leftwards. Inhaling deeply bend from waist and bring head down and rest it on foot. Exhale and remain in this position. Hold breath as long as it is possible.
  4. Inhaling deeply, come up slowly.
  5. Repeat process with the other leg.

Effect on Health

With regular practice of this asana, fresh energy is generated and a balance is maintained in body. Kidneys, buttocks and all organs of abdomen remain healthy and active. Practice of this asana is also useful in curing constipation. This asana activates hands and feet, removes their aches and pains and makes them strong and powerful. Practitioner experiences a readiness to act never felt before.


Influence on Glandular System

Practice of this asana mainly influences adrenal, pineal glands and the gonads. Adequate pressure is also experienced by pituitary gland. As a result agitations and rashness can be controlled by practitioner.


Other Benefits

There is relief from knee and leg pain. The extra fat around waist and buttocks is trimmed thus making these areas shapely and strong. Chest also expands.
