Sadhvi Kalp Lata
Sadhvi Sajanaji went to Mewad for her Chaturmas. Her Chaturmas was in Kindinal village. There was no public building; therefore she spent her Chaturmas at the residence of Harakhachandji. During those days, he had gone out for work. The nuns were alone in his house. Somebody informed them, “The village has been attacked by dacoits so you should be- ware of the situation.” Though the nuns had no fear as they had no worldly riches. But the people feared that the house could be robbed, because it belonged to a wealthy man.
There was no public transportation at that time. Everybody was intense with fear and chaos prevailed. People were busy trying to protect themselves. The nuns said courageously, “We have the shield of the name of Acharya Bhikshu and the power of the Mantra. On the top floor, one of the nuns, who was engrossed in chanting the Mantra was sitting in the middle of the stairs. Within a few minutes, two tall men came calling for Harakhachandji. On getting no response, they entered the house. They looked around the empty house and started climbing the stairs. They saw the nun sitting on the stairs. The moment he took a step up, he fell down. He tried again and failed. This happened thrice. He felt that some unknown force was pushing him down. They looked at each other in surprise and said, “Here is a lady chanting her Mantra, let’s leave.”
On leaving the house they saw Harakhachandji standing out. All the dacoits surrounded him. He did not get scared as he was a man of strong faith and confidence. Mentally he started chanting ‘Om Bhikshu’. One of the ‘dacoits shouted, “Where is your money?” He replied, "It is not here.” On hearing this, one of the dacoits started hitting him. He tried to run away, but was unable to do so as he was surrounded by a group of ten to fifteen people. They wanted to take him to the room but their legs were stuck. They were irritated by their helplessness.
Furiously, they started planning to "kill him. One of the dacoits poured kerosene on his clothes and lit a match and tried to set his clothes on fire, but amazingly the clothes did not catch fire. One of the dacoits said, “God knows what Mantra he is chanting. Ever since we have come here, he is repeating ‘Bhikshu Bhikshu’ and so are the white clad women sitting upstairs. Leave him, let’s get out from here. Who knows, they might harm us. Thinking this, everybody ran away. But they left the house with a strong desire of revenge to loot it later.
Harakhachandji came running to the nuns and said, “Today my life was saved by the grace of Swamiji and also because of you who are residing at my house. Now it is not safe for me to stay here alone. I will go and hide in the fields. You are here; therefore I am not worried about my house.” Saying this he left for the fields.
When he was going to hide, two of the dacoits saw him. They thought that this was a good chance to kill him, so they followed him with the guns. When they could not catch him, they started shooting at him.
He was very fortunate. All the shots aimed at him, were missed. He ran fast and reached the fields and hid there.
The dacoits looked for him everywhere, but couldn’t find him. He kept on chanting the Mantra 'Om Bhikshu’ till he saw some of the villagers coming to their fields, assuring him that the dacoits had left the village. He went home safely.
