Sadhvi Kalp Lata
After completing the Chaturmas in Madras, Sadhvi Jayshreeji and her group proceeded towards Bandavasi. Many of the devotees lived there. As soon as they went to know about their arrival, all the devotees went to welcome them. Champalalji Mootha was one of them. He requested the nuns “Don’t keep fast tomorrow because you have to walk twenty-five km” All the nuns said, “Though we always keep fast on Trayodashi, but this time we do not resolve to do it. We will decide after reaching our destination.”
Then after completing the daily rituals, they all slept inside the room. The other people were sleeping in the verandah. It was a silent and dark mid-night. Suddenly an unknown voice was heard. A young fellow, named Gautama, felt that some creature was on his back. He sat down and he saw a long and thick snake. He awakened his aunt and told her about the snake and its striking on his back. Everybody got up and started whispering. Hearing their voice the nuns came out. They saw that the snake was sitting upright with his fangs out. Looking at it, everybody was frightened and started chanting the Mantra ‘Om Bhikshu’ with concentration. As the sound intensity of the Mantra increased, the snake’s hissing also increased. The snake’s hissing surprised everybody because they had seen snakes but never heard such kind of hissing. Moreover, the snake was staring at them fiercely with fierce eyes.
The snake did not move from its place for at least one hour. After reciting the Mantra continuously for a long time, the nuns started their religious songs.
Everybody had a fear and look of suspicion. It was a big problem for them to solve. Sadhvi Jayshreeji having the power of full faith didn’t want to lose her courage. With full concentration she thought, and decided that not going on the fast yesterday-night was a wrong decision. So she determined to keep the fast on Trayodashi regularly. At last she ordered everybody to chant the Mantra silently.
Firm determination and the vibration of the Mantra had an effect on the snake. It was a miracle for everybody. Due to the auspicious vibration, the snake came down. Silently it crawled away and no one knows where it went Even though Gautamji searched the snake with the torch, but in vain.
