A Symbol Of The Will To Renounce Evil

AMRIT KALASH, OR THE VESSEL OF NECTAR

(An artist's vision of the Kalash)

The completion of fifty years of Acharyaship by Acharyashree Tulsi is an unusual phenomenon in the history of Jainism. Its significance increases all the more when we think of Acharyashree's selfless dedication to the cause of human solidarity and cleanliness in social life. The event is being celebrated as Amrit Mahotsava throughout the country with a view to inspiring the people to renounce alcoholism, adulteration, dowry, untouchability and violence in the name of sect, religion, language and parochialism. The people are asked to sign the above pledge and drop it into the Kalash. During Amrit Kalash marches thousands of people signed the above pledge and the number continues to swell.
