Jain Vegans
Hi all,
Those of us in the UK should be receiving the Jain Vegans e-bulletin, produced by the Jain Vegans Working Group, and detailing various relevant events taking place in the UK.
If you don't currently receive that e-bulletin, and would like to be added to the mailing list, please contact the e-media team at:
or subscribe yourself by entering your email address at www.jainvegans.org
Meanwhile, this egroup is international egroup, with members from all over the world. So if you'd like to post a note about a major vegan event, wherever it may be in the world, please do share that information here. Even if most members of this group cannot attend, it is often inspiring to know what is happening on the vegan scene around the world.
And of course, if we happen to have friends in the respective countries, the message can passed on.
In the UK and Europe, it's been a busy few weeks on the vegan scene (within and outside the Jain community).
To give you a flavour of what has happened over the last few weeks (around the world):
- On Saturday 31st August, there was a buzzing vegan festival in the heart of Berlin, taking place out in the open in a famous public square:

- On Friday 12th September, Pravinbhai Shah, Chair of the JAINA Education committee in the US, gave an in-depth talk on the hinsa of the dairy industry, based on his first-hand experience, at the Jain Centre in Colindale, London. You can view videos (courtesy of "Atma Dharma") of topical extracts from the lecture:

- On Sunday 22nd September, Dr Jina Shah, from California, gave two vegan nutrition talks in London. The first was an hour's talk to a Jain audience of around 150 (hosted by the Shree Digambar Jain Association), while the second was a longer session with a smaller group (hosted by the Jain Vegans Working Group).

Look forward to hearing about anything I might have missed, and about other vegan events taking place around the world - all great for learning about why vegan is particularly important today in terms of significant hinsa reduction, and also for picking up health and nutrition pointers on the way.
Enjoy and spread the word!
