Paperback Book On 16 Bhavnas By JAINA

A paperback book on 16 Bhavanas published by JAINA is now available at Amazon!

Click here to see the details: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1686644698?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860

Bhagwan Mahavir gave us 12 Bhavanas or Reflections to help us drive out the evil thoughts, and invite the pure ones. These bhavanas explain us the reality of our existence. In addition, Jain religion provides us with 4 other bhavanas that are action oriented. Whereas the 12 contemplative bhavanas explain the reality of our existence, these four bhavanas guide us about the virtues we need to develop. They are more action oriented and can be instrumental in improving our behavior and relationship with others.

In this book we bring you articles on all the sixteen Bhavans, originally published in the Jain Digest magazine during 2018. We hope you find these articles helpful in your spiritual journey. "

Wellness Challenge - "Aim To Get In A 20 - 30 Minute Walk Or Jog"

In this week's challenge you must “Aim to get in a 20-30 Minute Walk or Jog”. This might sound difficult but is easier than we all think. Getting up just 30 minutes earlier in the morning will give you plenty of time to get in a good walk (or jog). If you like to run, even better, but walking is great too. Moving first thing in the day boosts your serotonin levels, provides energy to the body, and also helps you focus better throughout the day. It is also an easy way to improve your metabolism to help manage your weight. Taking a 30-minute walk a day is kind of like that proverbial apple: There's a good chance it'll keep the doctor away. Walking is the number one exercise I recommend to most of my patients because it is very easy to do, requires nothing but a pair of tennis shoes, and has tremendous mental and physical benefits. 2) Please Donate To The All India Federation Of The Deaf

The All India Federation of the Deaf, as the name itself would suggest, is an all India organisation where member organisations from over 17 states elect their office bearers as also form the Executive Committee. Over half a century ago, the organisation was founded by Ms Surrendar Saini, who at 91, continues to guide it. Field Marshall K.M. Cariappa was closely associated with the organisation in its formative years and his association (though not his influence) was a guiding factor in MES of the Indian Army constructing our present buildings.

Our premises are spread over an area of 1.5 acres (behind IIT Delhi and at a stone throw distance from JNU) on the main road. The institution, in addition to its training centre has separate residential facilities for boys and girls and has been in operation for the past over four decades. At the moment it provides training to deaf students in the areas of computers, fashion technology, photography and turner & fitter technology. Over the course of this year, we propose to begin some courses in hospitality management and entrepreneurship in food industry. The fact that almost all the students who have passed out of the institution are employed or self-employed, speaks about the quality of training.

One of our focus areas in the coming years will be to devise strategies to help the hearing-impaired overcome "linguistic deprivation" - most of the deaf people have very poor language skills as they, unlike those endowed with normal hearing abilities, do not pick up words during discussions, TV shows and tea shop conversations. This in turn affects their level of general awareness - and thereby ability to get employment. Thus 99% of the deaf, even from economically well-off sections are non-matriculates.

The Federation is registered under the Societies Registration Act as well as Section 12 A of the Indian Income Tax Act. Needless to say, there has been no occasion for any grant maker including the Government of India to put any funding restrictions on the organization. The contributions to the organisation are eligible for tax relief under Section 80 G of the Indian Income Tax Act.
