Smrutiji gave up her career as a physician to embrace a life of celibacy and spiritual uplift. In 2009, and after spending 2 years in London with the Chinmaya Mission, she came under the guidance of Pj. Gurudev Shri Rakeshbhai. Since 2012, after having taken the ‘Atmarpit Diksha’, she leads a life of sadhana (spiritual pursuit) and seva (selfless service), with the goal of moving towards complete renunciation.
Anyone is welcome to attend, and older kids should be able to follow along with no issue. The sessions will be practical, interactive, and in English. Lunch will be provided and the event is free.

Anumodna - Maskhshaman Parnu
One of our community members - Devendrabhai's brother in law Sureshbhai is currently visiting from India.He has been doing many Tapasyas for last many years and currently he is doing his 48th Maskhsaman and he will be doing parnu on Saturday, April 27th at our center
His family members have sponsored April 27th, Saturday's Bhojanshala.
We have an opportunity to honor this Tapasvi for this big tapasya.
It would be a good gesture for anumodna from our center.
At dining area,we will keep an isolated area for Tapsvi parna and with little introduction,
community members will take laabh for parna,at 10:00 am

Gurudev Shree Kanjiswami was influential in advancing the practice of Jainism in the 20th century. His life and teachings focused on the path of Samyak Darshan. He studied hundreds of Jain scriptures and gave lectures in Songadh, Gujurat for 45 years. His life and words inspired thousands of souls to pursue the path of self realization.

Gurudev Chitrabhanuji has left for heaven on April 19,early morning, surrounded by his family. The departing of his soul is a great loss for the Jain Community in Northern America.
He was very instrumental in establishing JAINA in Northern America as well as founding our
Jain Center of Southern California and many other community centers in North America.
He has instilled Maitri Bhavna by composing "Maitri Bhavnu Pavitra Zarnu"
His memory is going to stay with us - thousands of us - for long long time.
Let us pray for peace to his soul and tribute with Shraddhanjali.

TCCOP-ACC - Women and Children Clothing and Shoes Drive CANCELLED!
April 28th collection of GENTLY USED Western Women & Children clothing HAS BEEN CANCELLED!
TCCOP-ACC was conducting a “gently used” WESTERN - Women's and Children's Clothing and Shoes Drive in April for individuals in both Orange and Los Angeles Counties. While we do appreciate what was donated last week, we will STOP collecting additional clothing for now!
The need is for Western wear in good condition- but that is not what was donated! So we will stop collecting for now!
Please look for future collection drives!
TAPOVAN NRI Shibir 2019 - For NRI Kids
NRI Shibir aims at Preparing Next Generation NRI Kids with Strong Faith and Belief towards Jain Morals & Values! Tapovan NRI Shibir 2019 - an Exclusive Event for NRI Kids held near Ahmedabad, Gujrat. This is 7th year of Shibir and seats are limited.
Date: 14 July to 21 July, 2019
Age Groups:
Group 1: Boys (7 Years to 12 Years)
Group 2: Boys (12 Years to 18 Years)
Group 3: Girls (7 Years to 12 Years)
In the past couple of years, many pathshala kids have attended this shibir. To encourage participation by JCSC Pathshala kids, anonymous members have offered reward and sponsorship of up to $1,200 for the first five kids. Wellness Challenge - Eat Smart
For the upcoming weekly challenge, we are challenging the participants to “Eat Smart”. Setting “SMART” healthy eating goals is a great way to help you feel and look your best. “SMART” stands for goals that are: specific, measurable, action-oriented, realistic and time-framed. Setting “SMART” goals can also help you achieve bigger goals you may want to set for yourself over time. A smart diet is vital to our health. It can provide the nutrients for our bodies to make us healthy and maintain our sense of well-being. Some tips to eating smarter is having three vegetables and two fruits a day. ACC and Education Updates
ACC - ACC organized a very well received and attended Comedy drama at Jain Center on April 20th. ACC assisted Simi Valley Temple in organizing 2nd Health fair. Close to 100 people took benefits. Our members Harshad Maniar and Dr. Shubha Jain coordinated the event. Nishith Chokshi and Dr. Ramesh Kothari also volunteered.8th Zambia Mission is going on this week in Ndola, Luanshya and Mambilima (April 22 to 27). We will be doing Dental, Vision and Surgical work.
5th Jamaica Mission starts from April 27 to 29. Dr. Nitin Shah will be traveling for this Cataract Surgeries mission to Mandeville, Jamaica.

JAAP SADHNA
Construction of the temple for the Jain Center of Los Angeles will soon begin.
To ensure the smooth and uninterrupted completion of the project JCLA seek the good wishes and blessings of all the community members.
In that regards JCLA has requested community members to join in
1. Sankli Ayambil Chain
2. Do Jaap of the three Main Bhagvan. Shree Shankheshvar Parshwanath. Shree Munisuvrat Swami and Shree Neminath
There is very good response from the community so far with Sankli Ayambil. It has been going on uninterrupted since December 2018.
Under the guidance of Pujya Acharya Maharaj Saheb, JCLA has now decided to give at no cost a 7 to 9 inch marble Pratimaji of the above three Bhagwan
to members doing Jaap and Sankli Ayambil.
This will sure create great positive vibrations and help JCLA to start and complete the project in a smooth manner.
These small marble Pratimajies were displayed during MJK program at JCSC with a small note to explain the purpose.
Practice the JAAP SADHNA with Navkarvalis (MALAS) each, and infuse your life with positivity, faith and a Divine Experience of Parmatma!
