Samanijis were invited by the Jain community of Birmingham for 5 days from April 22 to 26, 2009. During samanijis’ stay at Jain Ashram in Birmingham, many people got advantage of learning Jainism through spiritual discourses and personal discussion. In the Every day evening sessions, Samaniji spoke on various topics like ‘Salient features of Jainism’, ‘Importance of non violence in Family’, ‘Karma and Destiny’etc.
Samanijis: Opening the Auspicious event with Navkar Mantra
On 26th April, an auspicious event Mahaveer Jayanti was celebrated, which was attended by about 125 people, came from Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham. The Programme was commenced with the recitation of Namaskar Mahamantra by Samanijis. The children of Birmingham Gyanshalapresented a skit ‘The Secret of Dreams’. People appreciated the presentation, which was informative as well as humorous. In the remembrance of Bhagvan Mahaveer Samanijis presented some devotional songs. Samani Rohit pragya presented her views on “Awareness is the True Religion”. She spoke about the importance of awareness mentioning the verses preached by Bhagavan Mahaveer. Samanijis presented a small dialogue programme depicting the life of Lord Mahaveer, with power point presentation.

Samani Prasanna Pragya talked on the topic “Lord Mahaveer & Economics”. She drew people’s attention towards the Jain principle of ‘Aparigraha’and inspired them to have control over desires to lead a happy and peaceful life. People found the subject of speech, very relevant in present situation where they are all facing the problem credit crunch. They paid their gratitude towards Samanijis for coming to Birmingham as well as motivating them to awaken the spiritual consciousness.
