We have seen that the riddle of the nature of reality has not only baffled the metaphysicians, both of the orient as well as the occident, but also the explorers of the scientific world. Numerous philosophers and scientists have tried to solve this intricate aspect of the enigma of universe, and as a result of their efforts, the two trends - idealism and realism - have come into existence in the West. The idealistic philosophers and scientists deny the objectivity of the universe and consider thought, perception, God, soul, consciousness or idea to be the centre of reality.
