Acharya Shree Tulsi - A Legend Of Humanity: Anuvrat Can Make a Difference

Published: 02.01.2014

One question frequently puzzled Acharya Shree was how an individual could remain in the same state, not improving morally, despite being exposed to an abundance of religious guidance and reading plenty of religious scriptures?

In the opinion of Acharya Tulsi, common man put plenty of emphasis on rites and rituals, but pays a little attention to actual practice of morality, the true essence of religion. Those who accepted Anuvrat in principle have had a variety of experiences:

"Being directed into Anuvrat, is like being gifted with a guardian-angel who keeps a constant watch over all of my activities. Whenever I am tempted to stray from my moral path, Anuvrat prevents me from doing so."

"Before becoming an Anuvrati, I regularly dealt with making choices between making righteous or earthly decisions which caused me much anxiety and fear. Now I am free from moral conflicts in my life."

There are many more testimonials of those who practice Anuvrat in their everyday life. In every situation, Anuvrat resolves the decisions which create stress for those who try to live a moral life.

Anuvrat is a philosophy of life and a code of conduct that bridges the gap between the principles embodied in Jain religious philosophy and the actual practice of these principles through our conscious and unconscious actions. Thus, with the Anuvrat Movement Acharya Tulsi achieved success in the field of social reform by his innovative approach towards humanizing and simplifying religious practice so that it was effectively internalized by ordinary people to improve their moral conduct.
