Generosity
Some people are surrounded by luxuries and are generous by nature. Some people have the luxuries, but are not generous. Some lack in luxuries, but are still quite generous and finally some neither have luxuries nor are they generous.
King Bhoja was surrounded by luxuries and was very generous by nature. His treasury overflowed with wealth. He was also very famous and intelligent. His generosity helped his subjects tide over difficult times.
One day, his minister thought that the king was too generous and if he continued to give away his treasures like this, the treasury would become empty in no time.
To prevent the king from giving away his wealth, the minister wrote a note on a board in the king's bedroom, "Wealth should be preserved for emergencies".
After reading it, the king wrote back "There is never a hard time for the fortunate one."
The next day when the minister read the note he was upset. He tried once again by writing "Occasionally, even fortune might take a difficult turn."
When the king saw the reminder he thought of a solution and wrote, "If there is misfortune, all my accumulated wealth can also vanish."
The minister realized it would be impossible to change the king's mind and generosity. From that day, the minister gave up all his attempts to change the king's attitude.
