Remembering the Shravaks

We remember those Shravaks who, inspired by a noble instinct, contributed their mite to the construction of Shri Samamvasaran Mahamandir on Shatranjaya Mahatirth.

The famed jeweller of Surat Shri Motichand Hirachand Jhaveri worked hard to acquire land for the shrine. A jeweller in the true sense of the word, Shri Motichand Jhaveri was a devotee to the core and a philanthropist extraordinary. His wife and he had deep faith in religion and were a model couple. His sons Vijaybhai, Hemchandbhai and Mangalchandbhai had inherited the religious faith from the parents and donated a sum of Rs. 25,000 towards the publication of the present volume.

Similarly, Shri Khubchandbhai Ratanchandbhai and Shri Umangilal Hargovindbhai of Mumbai had evinced keen interest in the construction of Shri Samavasaran Mahamandir. They saw it that the cost of construction was minimal and tried to avoid unnecessary expenses. We gratefully place on record the services rendered by these two founder trustees.

Shri Vrajlal Tribhovandas Shah (Jambuwala) also extended his helping hand. Born on September 19, in Jambu, a village in the state of Limbdi, he was at the helm of the well-known L.T. Trust engaged in cotton business. After his retirement, he spent about thirty years in the renovation of the two pilgrim centres - Shri Bhoyaniji Tirth and Shri Shiyaniji Tirth. He was a trustee and President of the Home for the stray cattle managed by Limbadi Mahajan. A highly religious person, he had undertaken the severe penance known as Chausathpori Paushadh, for many years, during Paryushan. As a founder trustee of Shri 108 Jaintirthdarshan Bhavan, he took keen interest in the construction of the temple, helped to acquire land admeasuring 20,000 yds from the Government of Gujarat and signed the least-deed. His children Panachandbhai, Popatlalbhai, Maheshbhai, Samataben, Lilavatiben and Narangiben are all highly religious. He died on 13 August, 1947 in Surendranagar. Shri 108 Jaintirthdarshan Bhavan Trust will remember his services to the cause of religion forever.
