Abstinence from sinful activities
Samayik is the act of purifying the soul from karmic bondage caused by our actions.
Equanimity achieved through meditation and prayer.
Lay followers (Shravaks) are supposed to recite the verses of Samayik Vandana for a period of 48 minutes every day.
Monks and nuns in the morning as well as in the evening:

- If this is not possible, every four months for ten times.
- If even this is not possible, to recite it during the week of Paryushan for ten times every day.
