Message of His Holiness Acharya Shri Mahapragyaji
on the eve of
International Ahimsa Day
on
2nd October

The urgency of 'Ahimsa' today is the requirement of the present era. The recent declaration made by U.N.O. to celebrate the birth-day (2nd October) of Mahatma Gandhi as "International Ahimsa Day" is indeed an indication towards this requirement of the present era. It is again an axiomatic truth that Ahimsa was born and got developed in India.

By declaring the "International Ahimsa Day", the U.N.O. has rightly made by assessment of the value of 'Ahimsa'. This is very important in the global perspective. For India, it is not only important but also a matter of exaltation. Now, it is for us to make this occasion a graceful one. Let us re-think over how can we dignify the "non-violent life-style". Let us make such a resolve on the Ahimsa Day on 2nd October that can act as lighthouse for the whole world. At least, on this day there should be no event of creating an agitative atmosphere by people of any caste, community or creed, and also no such step be taken which can provoke himsa (violence) of anykind.
