We are quickly approaching the event you have all been waiting for! The teachers’ conference is just around the corner, and it’s time to provide you with more information, as promised. We, at Jain Center of Southern California (JCSC) - Los Angeles and JAINA Education Committee, are excited to invite you to the JAINA Teachers’ National Conference during the Memorial Day Weekend.

We request all the participating Jain Centers to sponsor airfare for the attending teachers regardless of their financial abilities.

CONFERENCE:

The primary objective of this conference is to have group discussions on Pathshala Education Material, Teaching Methodology, and tracking system (see list of groups). We will avoid lectures and speeches. Participants will be divided into groups based on their interest and expertise. We will have some sessions with all the participants as one group.

This conference is designed for Jain Pathshala in North America and other Pathshalas which follow a similar format. Scholars, academic and research oriented professionals will not benefit by attending this conference. We welcome individuals who may be interested in starting similar Pathshalas at their location.

REGISTRATION:

Registration fees for the conference total $25, which includes lodging and boarding for the duration of the conference. We encourage you to sign up on-line ASAP by clicking on the link below. You would be able to pay the registration fee of $25 on-line as well.

You may also use the attached application form and mail it. Registration deadline is April 2, 2012.

AFTER THIS DEADLINE, YOU WILL HAVE TO ARRANGE YOUR OWN HOUSING/TRANSPORTATION, though if possible we will make every effort to accommodate you.

TRAVEL:

We recommend that you arrive on Friday afternoon/evening, so as to complete registration at site, and settle in with the host family.

TRANSPORTATION:

When ARRIVING into Los Angeles, you will have to arrange for your own transportation to the Jain temple or host family address, depending on when you arrive. Details of shuttle services from Airport to Jain Center or to the host family will be provided later.

When DEPARTING from Los Angeles, WE WILL PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FROM JAIN CENTER TO LAX ONLY, between 1:00 - 3:00 pm on MONDAY MAY 28TH. You have to arrange your own transportation to all other airports.

Host family will provide transportation between their home and the conference place which is Jain center. Participants will be responsible for their own inter-city transportation not related to the conference.

HOUSING:

All the participants will be hosted by the teachers and volunteers of JCSC for the duration of the conference. This arrangement will give each participant an opportunity to further share their experiences and ideas with their peers.

Participants have the option to make their own lodging/boarding arrangements. JCSC can provide you with a list of hotels nearby, upon request. However, we encourage you to give us the pleasure of getting to know you by staying with a host family.

MEALS:

All meals, i.e. breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, will be provided at JCSC, for the duration of the conference. Please inform us if you have any specific dietary needs.

JCSC WILL PROVIDE ALL MEALS. HOWEVER, IF ANY CENTER or INDIVIDUAL WOULD LIKE TO HOST ANY OF THE MEALS, YOU MAY DO SO FOR A DONATION OF $501/-

ENTERTAINMENT:

We are planning some recreational activities on Saturday-Sunday evenings. Details to follow.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ANY MATERIAL/LITERATURE/MEMENTOS TO BE DISTRIBUTED BY ANY DELEGATE MUST BE PRE-AUTHORIZED BY CONFERENCE ORGANIZERS, PRIOR TO START OF CONFERENCE.
