About the event:
Most Jains would agree that hunting animals for entertainment or pleasure is cruel and unnecessary.
But how does the practice of hunting animals for pleasure compare with farming them for food (including milk, honey, eggs, etc) or clothing (leather, silk, fur, wool, etc)?
Could the process of farming be even worse? Does the method of farming or slaughter matter? In a world abundant with alternatives that are free of animal-derived substances, can we continue to justifiably use animals for food or clothing?
The event will be a unique opportunity to explore the use of animals in hunting and farming in the context of the Jain values of compassion, non-violence and truth, and will be highly relevant to all vegetarian Jains.
A presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session, concluding with delicious plant-based refreshments.
After the event, there will be an opportunity to get together for an informal social at a local venue - details to be announced.
If you have any questions about the event,Please circulate this invitation widely to your Jain friends/relatives.
