The island of Nandishvaradvipa is an island of delight of the gods with gardens of various designs. Gods celebrate the birth of the Tirthankaras on this island. Its composition and placement of various shrines are described in detail in the treatises on Jaina cosmology. 108 eternal statues of the Tirthankaras adorn the shasvata (eternal) jinalayas of the island, which are surrounded by exquisite gardens and lakes. The present illustration combines the Nandishvaradvipa shrines with the sarvatobhadra pattern and the Namaskara mantra in the corner. The Nadishvara Patas symbolically representing these shashvata jinalayas or Tirthankaras is very popular with the Jain devotees.
