Acharya Shri Tulsi Mahaprayaan Divas

12th Anniversary of late Acharya Tulsi expiration

10st June 2009, Wednesday
(Aashaad Badi Teej)

Let's pay our tribute towards this enlightened soul by observing spiritual practices such as upavas, ekashan, ayambil or any penances as per strength. At least on this pious day we should do the following Jaap -

"Om Tulsi, Om Tulsi, Om Tulsi  Om
Jay Tulsi, Jay Tulsi, Jay Tulsi Jay"

Acharya Tulsi, a great divine soul had devoted his whole life for the welfare of human kind and all. He became a monk at the tender age of 10. He took initiation under his guru Acharya Kalu Gani (8th Acharya of Terapanth sect). Acharya Tulsi took over the charge of his guru at the age of 22 and became 9th Acharya of the sect. Since then till his last breath he was carrying the tradition of discipline and spirituality.

He started his Anuvrata movement in 1948. He has been a proponent of Jain unity regardless of the sectarian differences. His message was not just for the Jains but for the entire humanity.

In 1980 he created a new rank of apprentice monks "samanas/samanis" who are allowed to travel overseas. He initiated more than 776 monks/nuns. He has been an accomplished poet, author of over a 100 books, as well as a distinguished religious leader.

At the age of 83 he left this world on June 23, 1997 (Aashaad Badi Teej)  at Gangashahar (Bikaner) with tremendous spiritual achievements.
