Introduction

Inclusive Growth is one of the most talked about subjects in India today. Government, Academicians, Economists and Business Houses are speaking widely about it. It is a well known fact that the growth bull of Indian economy cannot run on poor countryside and under a large bottom of pyramid structure. But, it is "action" that is more relevant than mere "words" to make things happen.

Incorporated in January 2007, Acharya Mahapragya Seva Sansthan (NGO) is committed towards rural development. Located in the village of Tamkor, its mission is to enable a constant development of rural belts.

Tamkor

Tamkor is a small village located in Jhunjhnu district in Rajasthan, India with a population of around seven thousand. Eighty percent of the population, belong to the backward classes. It is a small village which is under developed and does not have proper infrastructure in terms of roads and rails. There is a scarcity of drinking water and power supply. It does not have access to quality education. This is a major impediment towards the development of Tamkor and its villages nearby, which face a similar problem. This ultimately leads to illiteracy, ignorance and unemployment. There is a vicious circle of poverty, hunger and violence throughout.

Acharya Mahapragya Seva Sansthan

To solve the problems of illiteracy, ignorance and unemployment, Mahapragya Seva Sansthan has initiated many activities which aim towards creating awareness, spreading quality education and helping rural youth becoming employable. It is relentlessly moving towards the achievement of a collective development. It also works towards Moral, Spiritual and Materialistic development of the masses.

Activities of Acharya Mahapragya Seva Sansthan
Mahapragya International School
The NGO has taken a judicious effort by starting Mahapragya International School, the first English Medium, CBSE School in and around Tamkor. This is the gateway for many of village children towards a bright future. The vision behind the school is to establish a centre for skill, knowledge and wisdom.

The school imparts moral and value education like the Science of living, Prekesha Meditation, Yoga, and Training in non-violence. The school also has a meagre infrastructure like a playground, an audio-visual learning aid and a computer centre. The school has introduced thematic learning, which not only reduces the weight of a student's bag but also his mental stress through multimedia programmes.

We are proud to say that we are now a part of the worldwide campaign for promoting a culture of peace and non-violence led by UNESCO and the Noble Peace Laureates. The school is an eye opener for the unlettered villagers and paves way for the village children to find a bright future by striving towards the removal of illiteracy and ignorance. In its first year of operation, this school has attracted 100 students from five villages.
Acharya Shri Mahapragya Industrial Training Centre

The industrial training centre is started with the objective of creating employable youth in villages. It provides necessary amenities required to get diploma from ITI, NCVT. This diploma opens many ventures for the students to get jobs. Acharya Mahapragya Seva Sansthan operates this centre, provides the needed faculty and infrastructure, which is exceptional in a village like Tamkor. Currently, it operates three departments: Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Electrician and Embroidery and Needlework. This centre enables many rural youth in and around Tamkor to get a living and hence solves the problem of unemployment and poverty. In its first year of operation, it trains 45 students from 10 villages. Having this ultimatum at the back of our mind, we modestly aspire to have an independent building of our own in the near future. The ITI has been started with the kind support of Shri. Punam Chand Chajer and Ranjit Singh Kothari and is operational at their premises. The Electrician Department is funded by M. D. Bagala Trust, The computer Deparment is sponsored by Ranjit Singh Kothari, and The Embroidery and Needlework Department is supported financially by Vijay Singh Choraria respectively.

Everyday Preksha Meditation and Yoga
Preksha Meditation and Yoga are practiced everyday and students undergo a compulsory session in Preksha meditation and yoga. Everyday Yoga helps them keep their mind and body healthy. This also helps in their spiritual enhancement. The meditation is another an exalting tool to achieve a better and a healthy society thereby enabling continuous rural development.

Anti Drug Awareness

Villagers are made aware of the risks and effects of falling into the trap of drug addiction. This helps villagers understand the harmful effects of addiction and saves them from becoming a victim to it, due to ignorance. It also helps in de-addiction through Yoga and Meditation.
Training In Non-Violence

Meeting the physical force with the soul force and replacing love in the place of hatred and bitterness is the need of the hour, as the seeds of violence have started to disrupt the various parts of the planet. The curriculum of Ahimsa Prakshishan drives home the earning of a livelihood through fair means along with the transformation of the heart. Ahimsa Prashikshan encompasses:

  1. Ensuring refined and reformed human relationships.
  2. Development of sensitivity and compassion towards creatures so that the mitigation of hunger and calming down of impetuosity are made possible.
  3. Aunity in earning livelihood and morality.
  4. Creation of an atmosphere conducive to establish a peaceful co-existence.
  5. Aresolute determination to create a healthy individual and a healthy society.
Village - Sanitation - Campaign

Acharya Mahapragya Seva Sansthan has built 100 toilets in the houses of the under-privileged people in Tamkor. This gives the villagers basic necessities needed and keeps the village clean. This drive will help prevent diseases being spread around the village. Students of Industrial Training Centre and Mahapragya International School also do field work in keeping the village clean.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme
Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (A.I.D.S.) has acquired almost one third of India's population is one of the matters concerning immediate attention. The Acharya Mahapragya Seva Sansthan recognized the dire emergency of the victims affected by A.I.D.S and organised awareness programmes for the same. The training explicated the causes and consequences of the contraction of HIV/AIDS and suggested contraceptive measures to the audience. These ideas were put to light by Sunil Dudi, an eminent physician in Tamkor.
