O Jina! With devotion I have made up this garland of prayer of your qualities. I have decorated it with charming and multicoloured flowers [of sentiments]. The devotee who always wears it in the neck [memorizes and chants] obtains the highest honour and unobtainable goddess of wealth [the goal of liberation].

O Jina! The wise, who recites this eulogy [with devotion] is always free of fears of exited big elephants, [ferocious] lions, fire, [poisonous] snakes, ocean, severe dropsy [fatal disease] and bondage. In fact, fear itself is afraid from the fear of these causes.

[O liberated soul!] People [put in prison], tied from toe to neck in heavy chains, whose thighs have been bruised by rough edges of chain-links, get unshackled and freed themselves from bondage of fear very soon by chanting your name constantly.

O Omniscient! [A sick person] disfigured due to advanced dropsy and having lost all hope of recovery and survival, when smeared with the nectar like dust particles taken from your lotus feet, [fully recovers] and becomes handsome like the cupid god.

[O Equanimous!] The [stormy] ocean being frightening with turbulent alligators and fearful with the big fish named pa?hina and pi?ha, in which the water fire is caught and the ships remain on the peak of the waves. [In this condition] leaving fear people [even] crosses [the ocean] remembering you.

[O vanquisher of the passions!] In the fierce battle, where [brave] warriors eager to plod over the streams of blood gushing out of elephant pierced by sharp spears, the devotee having sought protection of the garden of your lotus feet embraces victory ultimately even over the most powerful [difficult to defeat] opponents [in other words, your devotee is always victorious in the end].

[O conqueror of vices!] By reciting your name, in the battle [the most dreadful of] even with the uproar armies of the powerful kings of their swift horses, the elephants trumpeting, are destroyed in the same way the darkness is pierced by the first rays of the sun.

[O Benevolent!] A devotee who has held nagadamani [medicine which destroys poison] of your pious name, in his heartcrosses fearlessly over an extremely venomous snake that has blood red eyes, black body like the neck of exited cuckoo, raised hood [that is, your devotee has no fear of snake].

[O Jina!] A [ferocious] lion tears open the temples of elephant and scatters (spread) around white [bone] pearls made dripping bright with blood and ornamented the land. [Even such angry and roaring lion] ready to leap at its prey (kill), [gets pacified and] does not attack a devotee who has taken shelter at your [secure] feet (in other words, your devotee is free of the fear of ferocious lion).

O Jina! Of The Airavata like elephant with its cheeks dirty and shaking by dripping of humour the anger is increased by the excited humming black bees. [in this situation] those who are dependant on you have no fear to see the uncontrolled elephant coming towards (them).

O Lord of Jinas! In the style of religious discourse [you have] the divinity is not found in anybody else. Indeed, the darkness-dissipating dazzle of the sun can never be seen in the twinkling [stars] planets.

O Lord of Jinas! The nails of your feet are glorious like the beauty as newly blossomed fresh golden lotus and these (nails) are beautified by the tips of the rays. Wherever you put your feet (in all the foot-imprints) gods create [divine] Lotuses.

[O Jina!] A three-tier canopy [umbrella] glowing like the moon shines above you [your head]. That [canopy] resists the vigourous sun. The surrounding thick net of the pearl has increased the beauty of it [canopy]. It reveals the supremacy [prosperity] of the three worlds.

[O Tirthankara!] The jasmine flower-like white swinging fans [on the both sides of] your golden body appear like fountain of water pure and [glittering] as the rising moon, flowing down the sides of the peak of the golden mountain, Sumeru.

O monk of monks! It is not surprising that all the virtues have been drawn and densely fused into you [leaving no scope for vices]. The vices have crept in multitude of other beings. Elevated by the [false] pride, they drift away and do not approach you even in dream.

O Jina! The wise have eulogized your omniscience, so you are the Buddha. You are the ultimate benefactor of all the beings in the universe, so you are Shankara. You are the originator of the codes of conduct (Right faith, Right knowledge and Right conduct) leading to Moksha, so you are Brahman [vidhata]. You are manifest [in thoughts of all the devotees in all the splendour of the ultimate], so you are Vishnu...

[You are free of the malignance of attachment and aversion and beyond the darkness of ignorance]. One attains properly [the sense of] overcoming death. There is no other noble path as the path leading to salvation [as you have propounded].

O Lord! What is the need of the sun during the daytime and the moon at night when your moon-like face sweeps away the darkness of the world. What is the need of the clouds, which are leaned down heavy with water for the field of ripen grains.

O Lord! You are like the divine flections of moon which is ever risen, destroyer of great darkness of delusion. It never goes down to the mouth of Rahu not into the clouds. Your lotus like face which has unlimited glow, shines nicely and reveals the world.

O Lord of the three realms! Your resplendent virtues which are as radiant as the glow of the full moon have surpassed the three worlds [and have spread throughout the universe]. [Indeed] who can curb the freedom of movement of those who are dependent on you alone - the omnipotent Lord?

Where can your face which captivates the eyes of all gods, humans & serpents alike and has completely won over the similies of the three worlds - be compared with the moon which is marked [dulled] and whose outline becomes pale during the day similar to those of autumn leaves! [Indeed the analogy of your face with the moon does not appear proper to me].

O you ‘alone’ are the auspicious symbol of the three realms! It appears that you are constituted by those particles which have the [ultimate] glow of serenity. O Leader of ascetics! I do not possess the wisdom [to narrate your infinite virtues]. Still, inspired by my devotion for you, I intend to [compose a hymn in your] praise. It is well known that to protect the fawn, even a doe [puts her feet down and] faces a lion, forgetting its own strength. [Similarly, devotion is forcing me to face the great task of composing the hymn without assessing my own capacity].

O Ocean of virtues! Can your virtues, which are as pure as the glow of the moon be narrated by someone who is like Brihaspati [the preceptor/guru of gods] with his unlimited wisdom? [certainly not!] At time of final destruction, the heavy gales make the reptiles [crocodiles] of the ocean so frightened [that they lash about in fury] - who is able to swim across that ocean with his arms? [certainly not!]

Bhagawan Rishabhdeva who has been eulogized [praised] by the celestial lords [ having acquired the skill of prudence from the true understanding of all the canons] through hymns which are able to captivate the audience of all the three realms [heaven, earth and hell]. When the gods bow down at the feet of the Bhagavan Rishabhdeva, the radiance of the jewels of their crowns is intensified by the divine glow of the nails of his feet. The mere touch of his feet absolves the beings from their sins. He who submits himself at the feet crosses the mundane barriers of rebirth into the state of liberation. I convey my reverential salutations at the feet of Jina Bhagavan [Rishabhdeva]...
