The Support Of Faith: 70 ►Religiosity and Dishonesty

Published: 15.03.2020

Religion is not such a uniform which is to be worn at the time of prayer to God and then to be kept orderly in the almirah. Religion has also no such contractual relation with temple, mosque, Gurudwara, Church, Upasray etc. Person, worshipping in these places is only religious—no religious person possesses such certificate

Pilgrimages are the medium of worship. Feelings of the person may change on going there; he may realize peace there and may find out correct path. But medium always remains medium, it can never be goal and methods of worship may be utilized for religious practices. But we should not forget that religion is related with purity of life and spotless conduct.

Hindustan is a religion-oriented country. At present its population is 85 cores. At least 80 cores people suppose themselves as religious. They have faith in any religion alike Jain, Buddha, Sanatan, Sikh, Islam, Christianity etc. According to their belief, the course religious practices are also being carried out regularly. One question often arises in the mind frequently that amongst these persons, how many are honest? We are not aware of any meaningful deliberation on this issue. Whenever such question arises, a sustained silence prevails or a low voice is heard twenty-thirty lakhs may, however, be fully honest.

An Out of the population of 85 cores, honesty of only 20-30 lakhs! If we increase this number to the extent of one core, it will be a silly fun for 84 cores of people. They are of course, religious but not honest. Whether there is any relationship between religiosity and dishonesty?

Whether Religious man goes to temple, mosque, Gurudwara or church or not, bows down his head before saints or not, listens to sermons or not, he should be at least, addressed as man. His glory to be a religious person does not depend on visiting pilgrim centres, rather on preserving humanity. First step of humanity is morality. A religion without morality is like ahead without body. It does not appear possible that such religion will be causative for the welfare of the people.
