Philosophy In Jain Agams: Relevance of Ācārāṅga

Published: 07.01.2019

Ācārāṅga avails us with the solutions to current problems. Environmental pollution is a serious problem of the present day. Scientists, government and non-governmental organizations are engaged in resolving. If the maxim of restraint in killing the life of six classes of beings (Ṣaḍjīvanikāya) is applied in this field, then the problem of environmental pollution etc. can be solved very effectively. 2500 years ago there were no problems such as environmental pollution. Nonetheless, the teachings of Lord Mahavira during those days in different contexts are still pertinent today and applicable to address problems of the current era. Evils of violence and terrorism can be solved by the doctrine of non-violence presented in Ācārāṅga.
