AYAMBIL OLI - TUE, 10/16 THRU WED, 10/24/18

We will be celebrating our Aaso Month - Ayambil Oli starting Tue, 10/16 thru Wed, 10/24, an auspicious 9 day Aaradhna parva.

There is daily Snatra puja from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and Mini-Siddha chakra Pujan from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. If you wish to do Ayambil you should write your name on the sheets provided on this bulletin board or call Deepakbhai @ 248-851-5246. This is very important as it will help volunteers prepare the food accordingly. We request you to bring their own thali, vatko, glass and spoon to help volunteers reduce their amount of work. Thank you.

NOMINATION & ELECTION UPDATE FOR EC/BOT OPEN POSITIONS FOR 2019-20

You should have received a letter of request to solicit, from general membership, nominations for serving on the BOT and EC as follows:

  • 3 Year BOT Term (2019, 2020, and 2021) - Two (2) Trustee positions
  • 1 Year BOT Term (2019) Chair and Vice Chairperson position (From Current BOT members only)
  • 2 Year EC Term (2019 & 2020) - Seven (7) EC Positions

The Election will be held at the Society’s General Body Meeting on Sunday, November 11th, 2018 during our Annual Diwali Celebration. Completed Nomination Form must be submitted by mail or scanned email copy with postmark date no later than Wednesday, October 18th, 2018.

As per Jain Society of Greater Detroit (JSGD) Constitution (Amended 10/18/2008) Article No. III - Membership, the eligibility criteria for BOT or EC (“Electable Member”) and Voting Members are as stated below:

To be eligible for election, the person must have been a voting member for at least three (3) consecutive years prior to election.

Voting Member shall have paid all (membership) dues prior to but no later than June 1, 2018.

Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson shall be nominated from the continuing Board of Trustees, who have the first right of refusal, and are in good standing. In case of refusal by the continuing Board of Trustees for any of these positions, the Nomination Committee shall solicit nomination for these positions from past members of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee Presidents, who are in good standing with their society membership.

The JSGD needs and requests your leadership, vision and active participation to accomplish the tasks of planning and executing regular activities at OUR TEMPLE, as well as planning for our future. We urge you to volunteer and submit your nomination to serve in the BOT or EC. Nomination Committee reserves the right to request applicants for their biodata and a mission statement if deemed necessary. A
