“Om Namah Siddibehyo”

Eighth day (03-SEP-2017) of Dashalakshna Mahaparva: Uttama Tyaga dharma (Renunciation) - To give up all the bad qualities(Kashaya) & over possession which is stopping us in the journey of Moksha.

"Tayga(Nischay) and Daana(Vyavahara) are quite different & we should not mix up". Tayga dharma means not Daana(Charity) and often many people get confused with these dharma. Tyaga is done for the upliftment of our soul (Karma kshaya) and Daana is done for the upliftment of others(Punya phala).

Jain Monks renunciation is at the highest level (Mahavratha), they not only renounce the household but also their clothes and become Digambara (Nude) monks.

We has a layman (Shravak/Sharvaki) practice (Anuvratha), renunciation by Vyavahara (outside) and Nischaya (inside).

a) Vyavahara(Worldly life): This don't mean a person in family life should give up everything but to Practice Aparigraha & renounce which is more than our minimum/basic requirements (less luggage more comfort), practice to use all the available resources in a meaningful way (Not to over use/misuse/abuse).
If we possess anything more than our basic need or not using it, then we should give it to others/needy.

b) Nischaya(Spiritual): Renouncing all our kashaya like - Desires/passion, Ego, Anger, Greedy, Jealous, emotions - (these all are the root cause of misery) is called "Nischaya Uttam Tyaga", which is possible only by contemplating with the true nature of the Soul.

Finally Jain monks/nuns will renounce their own physical body (Deha Tyaga) by Sallekana/Samadi marana(Art of death).
