The local Jain Shwetambar Terapanth community has celebrated the Vikas Mahotsav on Sunday. The festival is celebrated by the community to commemorate the Patt Mahotsav (the day a person becomes Acharya) of ninth head of the community Acharya Tulsi. Sadhvi Kunthu Shri, a disciple of Acharya Mahashraman, in her discourse said Acharya Tulsi was responsible for gaining world-wide recognition for Jainism. Pydi Sankara Rao was chief guest.
