    Nomination & Election Committee Appointments

At the end of this year 2016, 1 Board of Director(BOD) and 7 Executive Committee (EC) Members' positions would become vacant. As Jain Center is growing bigger with lot more activities, we need a lot of help and support from the community members in accomplishing our goals. We need dedicated individuals to lead the Jain Center towards much bigger, better and eventful center.

Paryushan Ekasana, Swamivatsalya & Parna RSVP

R.S.V.P. stands for a French phrase, "répondez, s'il vous plaît," which means "please reply." The person sending the invitation would like you to tell him or her whether you accept or decline the invitation. That is, will you be coming to the event or not? Etiquette rules followed in most Western cultures require that if you receive a formal, written invitation, you should reply promptly, perhaps that same day.

For the team that is planning for Ekasana, Swamivatsalya and Parna this is important from a practical point of view, because they need to know how many people to count on and how much food to prepare. With unreliable RSVP count, either we are short of food or have too much food and neither situation is desirable. JCSC Food/Ekasana committee urges all the community members to please RSVP in time, using the link below, so they can properly plan as tremendous time and effort goes in planning process. Your understanding and cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

Below is the link for RSVP for Ekashana, Swamivatsalya and Parna during Paryushan at the Jain Center.

Request for University Food Delivery Assistance

The JCSC is proud to announce the setting up of a food delivery service to the different colleges in the Los Angeles and surrounding areas during the coming Paryushan. To best serve the students with Jain Paryushan food during these eight days, we would like your help and assistance wherever possible.
If you are, or know of an active student in any of the colleges in these areas, please connect with us.
    We need the following:
    1) A total count of all Jain students who wish to receive food during Paryushan in various colleges, the more the students in a college the better for the program.
    2) Drivers who are willing and able to pick up and deliver the food from the Jain Center to some of the colleges.
    3) The food will be prepared at the temple, packed and sent out every day and we could use help for this process too.
    4) Leads in every college who will take the responsibility of receiving the food in a central area (possibly in the respective college) and re-distributing to all the other students of that college who have signed up for the program.

Please contact either Mahendrabhai Shah at 1-714-369-8701 or Kalpesh Jhaveri at 1-909-598-7070 for further details.

Wellness Challenge - Do Not Eat After Sunset Or Fasting, Aymbil, Ekashnu Each Day.

For the upcoming weekly challenge, we are challenging the participants to "Do not eat after sunset or Fasting, Aymbel or Ekashnu each day." Similarly, it is also acceptable to follow the challenge of eating 4 hours before you go to bed. Medical research proves that it is essential for you to have time between your dinner and sleep, so you have enough time to digest your food. If it's less than 4 hours, the food then gets stored in fat reserves (which are ultimately the hardest to lose).  If you are interested in learning more and participating, click here.

    Other News & Events

    1) Animal Sanctuary in Boulder, Colorado.

Shaleen Shah and his wife have started an animal sanctuary (Panjrapole) in Boulder, Colorado, USA since the past one year. In this year, they have not only saved the lives of 30+ animals, but have also saved thousands more through their outreach and education to promote a pure vegetarian lifestyle.

They have started the Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary. They have created a small booklet to tell their story, and show the work that they are doing.

Please view the digital copy of booklet, and a couple of videos here:
    https://www.luvinarms.org/ahimsa/

With Paryushan coming up around the corner, it maybe a great time to talk about the work of saving lives and putting 'Ahimsa into Action' for our community.

Please support this organisation by reading about it and spreading word of mouth about the same.

For any further questions please contact Shaleen Shah on (904) 612-6000
