The Musical Journey By Shri Kummar Chatterjee आनन्दघन धन (ANANDGHANA DHAN) - July 31, 2016

"The Musical Journey", is a presentation by Shri Kummar Chatterjee, which is especially conceptualized to unfold the treasures in the Stavans and compositions by Adhyatma Yogi Anandghanji. Avbhut Anandghanji was a saint of the 17th century from Medta, a remote village of Rajasthan, who has written many Stavans. The most popular being the Anandghan Chovisi. Unfortunately, his true preachings are not known to all. The real meaning of divinity is hidden in his stavans, which opens the path to happiness crossing all barriers of cast, creed, religion and social status.

These Stavans inspire us to go beyond superstitious beliefs and to walk on the path of Moksha. In the scriptures, for each of the Stavans are also mentioned the ragas in which the Stavans have to be rendered. Anand Ghana Dhan means the treasure of happiness that will be experienced through this musical journey. It is an audio visual presentation not only to reveal the preaching of Adhyatma Yogi Anandghanji but also aims to release the stress from our lives, which is one of the important needs of our time.

Kumarbhai is also well versed with the healing powers of the Navkar Mantra and will be sharing this with the community as a part of the musical journey.

Please join us on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in the Main Hall at The Jain Center of Southern California, 8072 Commonwealth Ave, Buena Park, CA.

Request for University Food Delivery Assistance

The JCSC is proud to announce the setting up of a food delivery service to the different colleges in the Los Angeles and surrounding areas during the coming Paryushan. To best serve the students with Jain Paryushan food during these eight days, we would like your help and assistance wherever possible.
If you are, or know of an active student in any of the colleges in these areas, please connect with us.
We need the following:
1) A total count of all Jain students who wish to receive food during Paryushan in various colleges, the more the students in a college the better for the program.
2) Drivers who are willing and able to pick up and deliver the food from the Jain Center to some of the colleges.
3) The food will be prepared at the temple, packed and sent out every day and  we could use help for this process too.
4) Leads in every college who will take the responsibility of receiving the food in a central area (possibly in the respective college) and re distributing to all the other students of that college who have signed up for the program.

Please contact either Mahendrabhai Shah at 1-714-369-8701 or Kalpesh Jhaveri at 1-909-598-7070 for further details.

YJA 2016 Convention Update

As we reflect upon the 2016 YJA Convention, one word comes to mind: agape. Simply put, this term means "selfless love," and it was introduced to all 650 attendees by our keynote speaker Houston Kraft. The kindness advocate reminded us that becoming an Agent of Change begins with a simple step of showing compassion towards all living beings. His address set the tone for the entire weekend, and through our 130 daytime sessions, attendees were able to give and receive insight on what it takes to make the world a place where all souls can peacefully coexist.

During our Closing Ceremonies, we emphasized to the audience that this is only the beginning, as the knowledge we have gained can only be worthwhile if we apply it in the real world. We are excited to see what our attendees can accomplish by serving their communities in religious, professional, and social settings.

Similarly, we hope this is just the beginning of our relationship with all of our supporters. You have just helped us organize an amazing convention, and words cannot describe how grateful we are for your contributions. Looking ahead, we hope you are interested in staying connected with the YJA community and consider supporting our efforts in the future. Please let us know what we can do to build upon the excitement and maintain your interest for years to come.

Finally, we would like to provide you with some links to stay connected with our convention and organization as a whole. Please enjoy!

Once again, we thank you for supporting the 2016 YJA Convention, the growth of Jainism in North America, and most of all, selfless love towards all living beings!

Wellness Challenge - Eat Atleast 1 Serving Of Leafy Green Vegetables Everyday

For the upcoming weekly challenge we are challenging the participants to "eat at least 1 serving of leafy green vegetables daily.” Working out regularly to get a fitter body is a must, but you also need a healthy diet if you want the best results. A balanced and nutritious eating plan is important for all-around health, but there are specific foods that work harder to help you get fit. When you read about superfoods, you might think about foods that are highly nutritious and keep disease at bay. These are often validated claims, but superfoods can also help  you in other ways. For more information and to participate in the challenge, click here.

TCCOP & ACC Update

Our efforts of serving the community is continuing with your gracious support. We added few more projects this year and had very good support from the community.

We are continuing our routine of serving weekly breakfasts and monthly dinners, providing groceries, and visiting lonely patients. We have also started serving breakfast to Mental Health Association of Orange County once a month.

We are pleased  to inform that young children in our community expressed an interest to participate in TCCOP Seva!!! This need prompted us to start Bag Packing of basic food items at the Derasar, for 250 economically challenged students. We have embarked upon this project since last November. If you are interested in participating please contact us.

We have started to serve breakfast in Pasadena since March 2016. If anyone is interested in volunteering please do contact us.

We want to thank our sponsors for last month:

1. Anonymous
2. Gulrukh & Khushru Dubash
