Paryushan Calendar for Sadhvis

The holiest period of the year for Jains will soon be upon us. As always, Veerayatan’s Sadhvi Sangh will be traversing far and wide to spread the significance of Paryushan Parva, and the teachings of Lord Mahavir while addressing gatherings across the globe.
Here’s who is visiting your side of the planet between 29th August to 5th September

• Sadhvi Shri Sadhnaji will be in Rajgir, Bihar.
• Sadhvi Shri Dr Chetanaji, Sadhvi Shri Shrutiji and Sadhvi Shri Sanghmitraji will accompany Acharya Shriji to Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
• Sadhvi Shri Rohiniji will accompany Sadhvi Shri Dr Sampragyaji to Manchester, England.
• Sadhvi Shri Sumedhaji will be in Jakhania, Kutch, Gujarat.
• Sadhvi Shri Manasviji will travel to Nepal.

Veerayatan Palitana 

Sadhvis in Palitana who, whilst praising Pujya Acharya Shriji Chandanaji Maharaj’s vision of educating thousands of children and adults, also added, 'What about us? Why have you never thought of helping the Sadhvi Sangh who face such everyday barriers?’ Acharya Shriji, with a heavy heart, is feeling the pain that nothing has been done for these Sadhvis for their betterment in the field of education. As a result she has resolved that alongside an already planned school for the disadvantaged children of Palitana, Veerayatan will also construct and run an educational training centre for the Sadhvis in Palitana where Sadhvis will be taught Prakrit, Sanskrit, Gujarati and English as well as learning scriptures, comparative studies of religion etc.

Gyan Shibir: 3 to 7 June, 2016 
A 5 day Gyan Shibir was organized for the devotees of Jamnagar at Veerayatan Kutch. Around 65 people, both young and old, attended this shibir under the able guidance of Pujya Sadhvi Shri Shilapiji Maharaj, who with her extraordinary intellect connected people to Jainism in its core sense. The inquisitive youth were exposed to the teachings of Bhagwan Mahavir for the first time in an interesting and convincing manner. Influenced and impressed by the philosophy of Veerayatan, the participants all resolved to gather once a month in Jamnagar to continue with their religious studies.

What’s happening: August to September 2016

• SCVP Forest Walks - SCVP London have organised forest walks for the whole family to get involved and be one with nature - the next scheduled dates are Sunday 24th July (Stanmore Park) and Sunday 14th August (Potters Bar).
• Pratikraman in English during all 8 days of Paryushan (29th August to 5th September 2016). A novel way of delivering Pratikraman so that people of all ages truly understand the essence of it and feel able to participate in this amazing ritual of forgiveness.

• Pujya Sadhvi Shri Shilapiji Maharaj’s visit to London
  Explaining the ancient Sanskrit text known as the Ashtavakra Gita on the nature of soul, reality and bondage to participants of a two day shibir was just one of the many activities conducted by Pujya Sadhviji. Find out what else happened when the Jain community in London were graced in May 2016 with a ten day visit by Pujya Sadhviji.
   
• Annual Samayik Programme
  “I found the Samayik a great experience and although I have participated in Samayik in previous years it did not fail to astound. Year on year, it gets better and better although I think that this year will be hard to beat!”  Rishi Shah, a 14 year old student, talks about his experience of attending this year’s Samayik. What’s happening: August to September 2016

• “Forgiveness is the Final Form of Love!” (Reinhold Niebuhr)
  Paryushan Festival is celebrated by the Jain community in Nairobi. During all 8 days of Paryushan, Young Jains Nairobi, conduct Pratikraman in English. These celebrations will be held at the Chand Rami Hall- Oshwal Centre from 29th August 2016 to 5th September 2016.

Celebration of our environment
On Saturday 4th June 2016 SCVP students of Nairobi celebrated Environment Day. The creative teachers of SCVP came up with practical learning sessions on environmental awareness and how this relates back to the teachings of Bhagwan Mahavir. See what this event involved.

Recent Highlights:
To spread the visionary message of Acharya Shriji for Palitana, Sadhvi Sanghamitraji Maharaj toured around in the USA visiting New York, New Jersey, Houston, Atlanta, Georgia, Philadelphia and Toronto, Canada. Sanghamitraji Maharaj experienced a tremendously positive response for the Palitana project from the entire Jain community of North America. Every single person learning of this work applauded the great vision and energetic efforts of Acharya Shriji and promised to support this cause all the way to fruition.
