This is the day to resolve to free oneself of basic instincts. In the rainy/monsoon season, all Acharya Bhagvants, Sadhus, Sadhvis, Munis etc stay at one place and do not travel for four months. This starts from Aso Sud Chaturdashi and ends on Kartik Sud Punam. After Kartik Punam, their vihar starts again to spread the knowledge of Principles of Jainism such as Truth, Ahinsa, Compassion etc. Thus Kartiki Punam has a big significance for all Jains. Upcoming Kartiki Punam programs are as below. Many of you may have wondered if Tuesday's Swadhyay will continue in his absence! We are glad to inform that Respected Girishbhai has agreed to conduct it. He will conduct the swadhyay on Shripal Raja's Raas, which is usually read during the Ayambil Oli to gain Bodh (બોધ), and insight from his life in a story format. Shri Girishbhai recently conducted a series of 18 such Swadhyay at Chicago Jain Center during their recent Ayambil Oli Celeberation, which was very well received. He was requested and invited to visit Chicago again to continue the series. Many of our members have requested him to conduct these swadhyay here also after hearing audio recordings of Chicago's Swadhyay. He already conducts Sunday, Monday and Thursday Swadhyay on various different subjects at our center and also once a month at San Diego Jain Society. When you engage in physical activity, you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn. You don't need to set aside large chunks of time for exercise to reap weight-loss benefits. If you can't do an actual workout, get more active throughout the day in simple ways - by taking the stairs instead of the elevator or revving up your household chores. It takes only a few minutes every day. When you cultivate a seed with love, the more it blossoms. For more information and to participate in the challenge, click here. | | | | | |
