JCYC Back to Pathshala 2015 - (Nov 1, 2015)

Back to Pathshala for all parents of Pathshala students is scheduled on Nov 1st, where we will be serving Chai and a light snack starting at 9:00 am. This will be followed by a meeting in the main hall and then sessions with religion and language teachers.
Parents of toddler class and Mommy and Me classes are not part of this meeting and not required to attend.

Every parent will be given vouchers, one after the meeting in the main hall, and one after each session with the religion and language teachers. You can then bring all three vouchers to JCYC desk before you leave and receive an awesome surprise gift.

Our Pathshala program is one of the best in the country because of your participation. Let's work as a team and continue this tradition.

Gyan Panchmi Program - (Monday Nov 16, 2015)

Gyan Panchmi is celebrated 5 days after Diwali and is also known as Laabh Pancham.
It is the day of appreciating acquired/collected knowledge in every form and holy books. A lot of people also observe fast by keeping silence (Maun).

This is the auspicious day for those who want to start Pancham with Fasting.
This year Gyan Panchmi is on Monday, Nov 16,2015. We will have Gyan Pujan and Gautam Swami Sthapana at Derasar at 9:30 AM for anyone who wishes to perform puja.
Dev vandan will follow after puja.

Kartiki Poonam & Pat Darshan (Actual Wed Nov 25, 2015 & Observed Sun Nov 29, 2015)

Kartiki Punam night is considered as the brightest full moon night in the whole year as the rainy season is supposed to end and night sky is all clear. This is the day to resolve to free oneself of basic instincts.

In the rainy/monsoon season, all Acharya Bhagvants, Sadhus, Sadhvis, Munis etc stay at one place and do not travel for four months. This starts from Aso Sud Chaturdashi and ends on Kartik Sud Punam. After Kartik Punam, their vihar starts again to spread the knowledge of Principles of Jainism such as Truth, Ahinsa, Compassion etc. Thus Kartiki Punam has a big significance for all Jains.

We are going to have Kartiki Punam Celebration on two days as below.
Day/Date Time Program

Wed, 25th Nov, 2015 09:30AM Pat Darshan in Aradhana Hall
(Kartiki Punam actual day)

Sunday, 29th Nov, 2015 09:30AM Pat Darshan in Main Hall
(Kartiki Punam observed) 11:00AM General Body Meeting
    followed by Swamivatsalya

Wellness Challenge - Walk A Total Of 12 Miles

For the upcoming weekly challenge we are challenging the participants to "walk a total of 12 miles.” Walking is an exercise that people have enjoyed for centuries. It is safe, and the risk of injury or strain is lower than it is with other types of exercise. The cost involved in walking is low, because you just need a pair of comfortable shoes, or you may even walk barefoot. Walking for 10 minutes a day yields numerous benefits, and you can begin to experience these soon after you begin your walking routine. Consult your health practitioner before beginning any exercise program to assure that you do not have health conditions or limitations that affect your ability to exercise safely.
