We received a request from Akshay Jain's family for much needed help and TCCOP-ACC has decided to lead the effort to provide support and reach out to the Community for additional support. More information about him below:
Akshay Jain is a young IIT graduate from Gandhinagar. He was studying for PhD in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&
M U
niversity. However, on November 30, 2014, he was involved in a tragic car accident which left him completely paralyzed. He has received very good care at a hospital in Houston, Texas and his condition is stabilized enough to return to India. While in India he will need long term rehabilitation treatment to continue his recovery. His parents are financially unable to provide the needed care for Akshay's recovery. His family members have thus requested help and support from the community for the same.
TCCOP and ACC have been in constant touch with Akshay's family ever since the tragic accident. This
is a case of lending genuine help to a Jain Sadharmic Bandhu. We appeal to every one to contribute and support Akshay Jain for his recovery from this
serious
illness.

AKSHAY JAIN’s LONG TERM RECOVERY FUND
Akshay Jain was always the center of attention, wherever life took him. His kind, compassionate, outgoing and perennially-helpful spirit always made him stand out. After getting Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from IIT Gandhinagar, he left his birthplace India for a new adventure, working towards a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He was on a meteoric rise in his field - publishing papers, attending conferences, creating award winning engineering designs, and participating in scientific symposia - all at the young age of 22.
All of this came to an abrupt halt on November 30, 2014. Akshay and four of his friends, all Texas A&M students, were returning to campus, when they were suddenly hit head-on by a truck that veered out of its lane. All were hurt; Akshay the most seriously. The accident has left Akshay bound to a hospital, undergoing multiple surgeries. He remains in a vegetative state, reliant on feeding and tracheotomy tubes.
Akshay was always very strong-willed, never letting anything stand in his way. His road to recovery will be long and hard. But, we know that this would have never stopped Akshay. Please help cheer him on as he goes through with the fight of his life. He would never have backed down from a challenge, and neither will we: please help us share his story. Please help us raise funds for his long term care. Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated.
