PEACE & CORRUPTION REPORT

The relationship between peace and corruption is statistically significant, as corruption is a leading indicator of peace. Interestingly, while corruption has an instrumental impact on levels of peace and violence, peace does not appear to impact levels of corruption in the short term.

THERE IS A TIPPING POINT FOR PEACE & CORRUPTION

There is a 'tipping point' at which a slight increase in corruption can lead to a large decrease in levels of peace. There are currently just over 60 countries at this tipping point.

THE INSTITUTIONS THAT ARE SEEN AS THE MOST CORRUPT

Over 50% of those surveyed worldwide perceive political parties, the police, parliament and the judiciary as corrupt.

Perceived corruption within the police force has the greatest impact on peace of all institutions. Corruption within the police undermines the rule of law in a country and can lead to a dramatic increase in violence and crime.
