Donation of Books from Prof. Nagarajaiah Hampa
After the former Institute of Indology and Indian Art History has been closed in 2008, the University Library stopped the purchase of indological books and, additionallly, reduced the number of indological books in stock. Hence, when the Center for Jaina Studies (CfJS.FU) was opened, the condition of the University Library in terms of Jainology was insusufficient. To change this situation, teaching staff and members of advisory board decide to establish an own collection of Jainological books to support teaching and research of CfJS.FU.
As a foundation of its library, CfJS.FU received a generous donation of books on Jainism from Prof. Nagarajaiah Hampa. The gifted books are an invaluable support of study and research on Jainism and will help to save the tradition of German Jainology at Freie Universität Berlin.
