Mahavira's Scripture Of Health: [12.09] Kayotsarga and Health - Samvara (Inhibition of Karma) is the Solution

Without kayotsarga, neither the mind nor the brain can be purified. There is a spiritual and substantial reason for this also. Ashrava and Samvara both are the factors that create problems. Ashrava creates mental distortions, as well as emotional disorders. Whenever there is ashrava there will be distortions. Doctors say if someone is coughing, the other Person should cover his nose with a cloth. If someone has got any infection, one should hold the cloth on the nose. When the doctor does a surgery, he ties a cloth over his nose. This is done to prevent being infected by the disease. 'If the nose is uncovered, the bacteria of the disease can enter one's system through his breath. Close the nose and you are protected. It is necessary to protect the nose. Asrava is the root cause of the Problem. Samvara is the solution.

There are so many ashravas in our body. The door of the ashravas is open. If all the entry-points in the body are blocked, the mind can do nothing. Nothing is possible without the cooperation of the body. Who absorbs the manovargana? Who absorbs the vacanavargana? It is the body, which does it. If the body is in the state of kayotsarga the gate of the mind would be closed, and with that the onset of the diseases would be blocked. This metaphysical thing becomes a practical matter for us. Jinabhadragani made a very important statement when he said that there is only one type of fickleness and it is the fickleness of the body. If you tame the body, the mind would be tamed, the speech would be controlled, many other things would be controlled. How important is this aphorism! If we follow it properly, if we tame the body and attain kayasiddhi and learn to be still and steady, we would be freed from many problems.
